A grand ceremony took place at the Akatsi RC School Park on 26th July 2025. The Atidefe Foundation, led by Hon. Thomas Yao Atidefe, distributed 3,500 coconut seedlings to the people of Akatsi Municipality. The event, which drew a large turnout of dignitaries, marked the fourth phase of the foundation’s coconut seedling distribution program. It included Hon. Assembly Members, traditional leaders, the academia, industry, and government administration. Executives from various political parties were also there.
The event was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, a member of the Council of State at the Presidency representing Volta Region. In his speech, he issued a stirring call to action the country’s young people. He urged them to take charge of their future with courage, discipline, and sense of purpose. Demonstrating his commitment to the cause, His Excellency Dr. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, donated GHC20,000.00 to support the Atidefe Foundation’s initiatives.
Hon. Atidefe is a former Presiding Member for the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly. He is also the current Assembly Member for the Torve Electoral Area. He expressed his gratitude to the beneficiaries and stakeholders for their support. He mentioned that before setting up the Atidefe Foundation, he supported needy but brilliant students in the Akatsi South Municipality. This experience inspired him to promote agriculture in Akatsi South by introducing coconut farming to empower the youth.
Notably, Hon. Atidefe was shortlisted by President John Dramani Mahama. He was among the three individuals considered for the Municipal Chief Executive Position for the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly. This recognition speaks to his capabilities and commitment to public service.
The distribution of coconut seedlings is expected to have a positive impact on the local and national economy. It will offer a potential source of income. It will also guarantee food security for the beneficiaries. With proper care, these seedlings will grow into mature coconut trees. They will offer a long-term advantage to the beneficiaries and the environment.
Special guests at the event included Hon. William Kpormatsi. Rassam Naaba Tigre Youth Chief of Moshie Yadega was also there. Alhaji Alhassan Muntala Haruna, CEO of Procal Group of Companies, donated GHC10,000.00 to support the foundation’s initiatives. Other notable attendees included Hon. Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive for Akatsi South Municipal Assembly, Hon. Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Bright Fiadogbe of Ketu North attended. Togbega Dorglo Anumah VI was the Guest of Honour. He is the Paramount Chief of Avenor Traditional Council. He is also the President of the Avenor Traditional Area.
The event also featured many drumming groups that added a touch of cultural flair and festivity to the proceedings. During the event, the Atidefe Foundation launched the Youth Empowerment Forum 2025. This initiative aims to empower the youth and make them more productive. The theme is Inspire, Uplift and Transform the Youth.
This gesture marks the fourth phase of the foundation’s free coconut seedlings distribution program. It aims at supporting the development of the Akatsi South Municipality. The program also focuses on improving the livelihood of the residents.
According to Hon. Thomas Yao Atidefe, the foundation was established on Monday 7th November, 2022.
“During Phase One of our initiative, I distributed over 600 coconut seedlings. These seedlings were given to the public through fellow assembly members and individuals at Torve Duwornu. In Phase Two, held on August 25, 2023, over 1,300 seedlings were distributed. This benefited seven electoral areas. These areas included chiefs, assembly members, and other individuals. Phase Three took place on August 29, 2024, at the RC Church premises. During this phase, over 2,500 seedlings were distributed to the public”

Hon. Thomas Yao Atidefe’s commitment to the municipality is clear. His tireless effort promotes development. He aims to improve the lives of residents. His leadership in the Atidefe Foundation has been instrumental in implementing various community-based initiatives. This latest distribution is a testament to his dedication.

Hon. Thomas Yao Atidefe made a further announcement. His Foundation will sponsor five (5) brilliant but needy students. These students will attend university this year, 2025.
Rassam Naaba Tigre is the Youth Chief of Moshie Yadega – Greater Accra. Alhaji Alhassan Muntala Haruna is the CEO of Procal Group of Companies. In a speech, he congratulated Hon. Thomas Yao Atidefe for championing development in the Akatsi South Municipality.
As a Youth Chief, he urged all citizens to support the Atidefe Foundation. Traditional leadership and the government should also rally behind the Foundation’s positive efforts. These efforts aim to deepen and expand its developmental agenda.
